And I dwelt in the house...‏

Well from the title of this week's email I spent most of my week in the house. I got the FLU! Yay! Don't worry, like a good missionary companion I shared it with Sister Wunderli. We've literally been in our beds since Saturday. Other than a few teaching appointments, today was our first day out. Ha 

Luckily the ward has been taking care of us "Inactive Missionaries" and have brought meals and really just taken care of us. THEY ARE SO GREAT! They are planning on teaching us the Plan of Salvation tomorrow since we now need to be reactivated. Don't worry, we'll regain full activity in the church very soon.

We ended up missing church yesterday and let me tell you that was weird. We called our District Leader asking what we should do and he had no clue. No one really knew what to do since missionaries NEVER miss church. Oh well, although we're still sick, we are getting better. Mom, don't worry we'll be fine.

We did get to teach a few of our lessons this week. One was particularly fun because he texted us in the morning asking if we were allergic to anything because he and his wife were making dinner for us that night. Gah! People are my favorite! Okay, so I don't know about most missions, but in Finland this never happens. It was so cool to just have a dinner conversation and talk about the church. So cool! 

Other than that, it has been a good but slow week in Marjaniemi.

Hyvää Ystävanpäivä!‏

Hei Everyone! This was a great week here in Finland! 

So I've said it once and I'll continue saying it forever: I LOVE THE MEMBERS IN THE HELSINKI FIRST WARD! This past week Sister Wunderli and I were out working and we didn't have time to go home and make dinner, so we were just planning on grabbing something really quick. As we were walking around Itis we saw some ward members and talked to them for a minute. They told us about this way good place to eat and they walked over to show us where it was. So once we get there they show us the awesome menu and then ended up buying our dinner and left! Seriously, that day more than ever, it was the most amazingly kind thing ever. It was just such a tender mercy with all that has been going on lately. Gah I love the ward members.

This week with it being Valentines Day, Sister Wunderli and I wanted to make it really fun and just a really good "Ystävanpäivä" (literally means Friend Day). We thought it would be fun to make valentines and pass them out to the ward. So we got paper and wrote on them and put a little piece of chocolate with it. Then we got to church really early and passed one out to every person as they came in the door. Luckily we have about 120 active members so we didn't have to do the regular 400 we would have needed if we were in Utah. Ha!

To put the cherry on top of Valentines Day, Sister Wunderli and I matched - 100%. We both had the same pink sweater and then we found this really cute dress that we both liked so, we wore them on Sunday. Gah it was seriously so awesome! But never again will we ever match. Both of us really hate matching but for Valentines Day, we had to do it. Ha

It has really been a great week with so many tender mercies and seeing the Lord guide us in our efforts each week!

A Week in Itäkeskus‏

Hei everyone!

This week has been great! We've been teaching a bunch of lessons and the work is moving along awesomely! It's fantastic!

So this past Tuesday on P-Day, Sister Wunderli and I decided that we were in dire need of a "Spa Day" - face masks and the whole nine yards. Seriously, sooo needed. It has been forever since we just sat down and took the time to relax and meditate. So that's exactly what we did. Loved it. Just loved it. 

This week I've really come to love and appreciate this ward I'm serving in. Now I've loved this ward since the moment I got here, but this week I have really come to love it even more. Sister Wunderli and I have really been trying to get to know all the members. With a ward of about 100 active people, it hasn't been too hard, but now our goal is to become friends with them all. It has been awesome to see these relationships grow and see the support they offer us.

Really though, this ward has some amazing people. They are really some of the coolest people I've ever met. Okay granted I say that about everyone, but I really mean it each time. This mission has provided such a wonderful experience for me to meet so many different people that I never would have had the chance to meet had I not chosen to serve. 

I love doing this work. It has really been so amazing to see it move forward here. This mission is special and it is doing wonderful things!

Quiet Week

Hei Everyone! So this week I'm not going to lie, it wasn't super eventful. 

We did teach a bunch of lessons and it was really cool! We have this one investigator who had investigated the Church before and we picked him up. He really didn't have any intentions to keep meeting with us after the first lesson, but he was so impressed that we've now been meeting with him twice a week for like 3 weeks :) Ha He's really progressing and its amazing! 

This week we got a phone call from the referral sister in the mission office and she told us about this lady in our area who had been calling the temple for three days trying to find out how to join our church. Yes, someone actually called the temple and asked to join BEFORE she had even met with missionaries. We are meeting with her tomorrow so lets hope that means that Sister Wunderli and I will have a baptism this transfer! Fingers crossed!

So yeah, it's been a pretty standard week. The work is definitely moving forward and it's great! Our area is taking off! I love it!
