On the Metro‏

Hei Everybody!

So this week was quite an interesting one. Really though.

So Sunday night we were contacting on the Metro, which is probably the best way to contact in our area. We walked on the metro and there was this guy mumbling stuff to himself and well, it's a Sunday night in Itäkeskus so we figured he had a little too much to drink that night. So obviously we didn't go sit by him to talk to him.

But we did go and sit by this really nice lady and started talking to her. We got about 20 seconds into the contact when this man came and sat right next to this lady and started yelling at us. He started telling us how he's a Satanist, NOT AN ATHEIST, he made that point VERY clear. And how everyone else in the metro was a lot smarter than us because we had read the Book of Mormon and been brainwashed by our leaders. We thanked him politely for his thoughts and got off the Metro as fast as we could.

Yep. That happened.

It was actually a sad experience. If that man only knew the wonderful blessings that come from the Book of Mormon and from this Church. If only he knew what he was really saying. Now obviously he was under the influence of something, but it is really heartbreaking to see people's lives when they make some really stupid decisions.

BUT throughout that whole ordeal, I'm really soooo grateful for this Gospel. I'm grateful for the knowledge it has given me and the peace that I am able to have because of it. I'm grateful to know of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and I'm even more grateful that I have this chance to share it with the people of Finland. Really. These people are so amazing and I am so happy I get to spend the next 11 months with them!

I love you all! Other than this weird story, it was a really great week!

The Hardest week of my Mission?‏

Hei Everyone!

This week in Marjaniemi was quite difficult. But I really doubt it's the reason you're all thinking of.

This week was insanely difficult because of one thing: we made a goal to not eat ANY sugar, unless given to us by members (because that would be rude if we didn't eat what they gave us!). Now this sounds like a reasonable goal right? Well if you think that, you've obviously never tasted the wonderfulness that is Fazer Chocolate.

So last Monday we began. It was the hardest day of my entire life. Yep. Wayyy rough. That's a fact. Tuesday was also wayy rough because of P-Day treats. Wednesday was also very hard. And we told our district and they thought we were insane for doing it. Ha. And well, WE DID IT!!!!!!! We actually went an entire week completely clean. We didn't even have peanut butter or jam. We were soooooo clean it was insane! Ha but the even better part is, we don't even really feel like eating sugar anymore. It was a fantastic detox (but I'm wayyy glad its over). Ha

This morning Sister Crofts and I wanted to see how well our "Pre-Mission Jeans" fit. Well it has been over six months since we had tried them on, so we did. And I'm pretty sure thanks to our no sugar week, they fit perfectly :)  So we put them to use. We were going to go play on a play ground, but the kids were at recess so we just took awkward pictures instead (I TOOK PICTURES THIS WEEK MOM) So that's been way fun.

That's pretty much a quick summary of my week! Things are moving along just amazingly here! I love it! Its awesome to see the change in people. It's really sooo great! I absolutely adore my mission so much! It's so great!

I love you all!! Thank you for everything!

Love,
Sister Jones

The Things you Hear in Finland‏

So this week was quite an interesting one, that's for sure. I GOT SICK AGAIN. Luckily not NEARLY as bad as last time and I only had to spend 2 days in the house. I also heard that Sister Wunderli is sick again as well, so trainer/trainee unity is still going strong. Ha

But this week I wanted to do something different with my email. This week we had an unusual amount of weird responses when we stopped people on the street. I will list a few of my favorites.

"My Ex-Husband was a Mormon"

"My Boss was a Mormon"

"I'm a Communist"

"I'm a Communist"

(Yes we found two communists in one day.)

And the best one of them all...

"Ya'll are Mormons right?"
"Yes, we are"
"You don't drink alcohol right?"
"Right"
"See I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU. Why don't you live with the boy missionaries?"

Yes everyone, someone asked us why we don't live with the Elders. Now this one was quite interesting which sparked a conversation between me and Sister Crofts about why we don't live with Elders. We came to the conclusion that it wouldn't be good to live with them, and we are SOOO grateful we don't. Yep. We actually talked about it. We're too cool.

So as you are definitely able to see, it was quite an interesting week. Super awesome, but interesting.

I love you all! The work is moving forward here and its so great to see this area grow in the past 5 months! I HIT MY 7 MONTH MARK this past week. How crazy! It blows my mind but I love it!

I love my mission! Thank you all for your support!

Love,
Sister Jones

(Okay next week I PROMISE I'll send pictures..)

Oh What A Week

Oh man what a week!

This week has been one of the craziest weeks I've ever experienced but it was so great!

So on Wednesday we show up to District meeting and we are just standing there talking with the Elders when all of the sudden President Watson walks out of a closet and says "Are we still good to talk after the meeting?". Well it's quite apparent that he thought he had texted us about interviews, but he didn't.. Awkward.. Luckily it worked out, but we didn't get home from District Meeting until like 3:00 when we should have gotten home at 1:00. Bless. Ha

So for General Conference we had two options of places to go. We could either go to Haaga with the rest of the Zone or stay in Marjaniemi with our ward. The six of us missionaries in our ward, decided to stay in Marjaniemi because it's closer. We then figured out on Friday that the Elders were planning on going to Haaga anyway. So we ended up on a wild chase to go tell our investigator who was planning on coming about the change in venue. She wasn't home so we gave her mom a sticky note kinda explaining what was going down.

Now our investigator is like 25 and a college student. We didn't expect in the SLIGHTEST that she would come to General Conference. "Oh ye of little faith" right? We were so excited and COMPLETELY SHOCKED when she actually came! Yay! It was sooooo cool! And she came to the Sunday Morning Session so that was just the most perfect one for her to come to!

Really though, General Conference in all was amazing! I still haven't seen the Sunday Afternoon session because of the time difference so no spoilers pleaseeee. It was such a wonderful conference that provided answers to so many questions that I went in with. I am so grateful for the Gospel and the chance we have to hear from living prophets and apostles. We really live in such a wonderful time. I love it!

Thank you all for everything you do! You're really truly the best! I am so grateful for all the support you give me. I really wish I could explain just how much it means to me!

Sister Jones

Thanks to Sister Wade we have pictures of Emili  when she was in Haaga watching General Conference.
